Let's drink! Cuba Libre
A lazy night, you just got back from the beach and are still enjoying the freshness in the air? then this is a drink for you! The Cuba libre is a mix of rum and coke, tasting very fresh with a sharp aftertaste. By changing the type of rum, you quickly change the allround taste of the drink.
Necessities
- Rum (decent one, think Bacardi, Havana Club)
- Cola (Coca-Cola or Pepsi Max, don't even think about ruining this with Pepsi Regular!)
- Ice-cubes (Take cubes, or like me, staves!)
- (optional) Lemon slices (about 4mm thick, mostly decoration)
Preparation
- Firstly, slice your lemon :)
- Secondly cool your glass, this can best be done by taking some ice cubes, putting them into your glass, add some water, and shake (helps to have a boston shaker :))
- Clear your glass from the water and the ice cubes (do not dry!)
- Add new ice-cubes (to your leasure)
- Add your rum (about 1/5th of the glass)
- Add your cola (for another (4/5th)
- finish off by adding your lemon juice (which you sliced) and of course your slice of lemon :)
Tips and tricks
- Don't use Bacardi black for this, use a good rum, to blend, like Bacardi Superior, Havana Club or my favourite, Bacardi Reserva.
- do NOT use Pepsi Regular (its just terrible)
- If you want to spice it up, be sure to try Captain Morgan's, or Bacardi Oakheart
- Certainly chill your glasses because the drink deserves to be drank chilled.
- Preferred glasses are longdrinks, or mojito glasses
- Drink responsibly!
