Deadzone: Scenery unboxing

You can never have enough scenery when it comes to wargaming. And when I saw this kit by Mantic used at a tournament, I was sold directly. I ordered me a box, and was ecstatic to use it in my battles. Now what is this scenery about?

Content

Mantic describes this as a modular scenery kit, that's primarily used for their game Deadzone. It's a plastic kit made thanks to a successfull kickstarter, and containing enough pieces to create some fun scenery!

Once I've cut them all fom the sprue, you can still see, it contains more than enough pieces. Those pieces come from square walls, railings, to ammo boxes and stairs. They include special connector pieces to click it all together based on your preference.

Using the pieces

Putting everything together goes really fast and simple. Mantic provides you with connector pieces that click between the walls to hold them together in a 2-point system. This , and allows you to create a lot of different buildings/shacks/.. based on your scenario/game. Some examples include, a simple gantry, bunkers, (half of a) building or simply some walls.

Issues

The biggest issue I had with this kit were the connector pieces. They broke when disassembling the buildings. Partly my fault, partly because they just aren't thick enough (and can't be) to be flawless. after a time, you learn how to disassemble your structures, and you can always use plastic glue to glue the pieces back together (with result!) If you really want to disassemble/reassemble your scenery per occasion I propose you to file off the edges, making them much easier to slot in and out of the locks. This has resolved all my issues with the cracking, while maintaining structural integrity :)
*crack*.. damnit!

Verdict

Over all I really like this kit. It produces a quick way to add some really nice scenery to your table  that can be used in a lot of different situations. Do you need a big bunker, then click them all together. Want some blocks to break up your table, or simply create some cover, this is your kit. Be it 40k, Necromunda, Infinity, Deadzone, .. any sci-fi game profits from this kind of scenery. Just be warned, the click system is prone to breaking, but paying some attention saves you a lot of pain. In my humble opinion, this kit is worth its 25 pounds. Though I might advise you to order another set of connectors while you're at it ^_-.
