Buddha and other holy shrines in Kamakura

As this still is a trip of learning(?) we went to Kamakura today. A coastline city that houses a lot of shrines devoted to multiple deities and the first capital of Japan...
Our most favourite spirit!

Kamakura city

After about an hour trainride we arrived in the town and got us some bikes to help explore the city. Though you could go around town on foot, or even by bus, we were persuaded by the thought of bikes and the freedom it would give us. Hopping on, I was quickly remembered being 1m90 in a country with an average of 1m60 is bad 'mkay.. But we carried on and started visiting the surrounding shrines.
Sexy right?
Though I won't go into detail about every shrine around Kamakura there certainly are some beautiful ones around. Following are some more scenic pictures we were allowed to take :-)
Incense is burned to appease the spirits

Washing your hands is an entire ritual that needs to be done right

By the late afternoon crowds were growing everywhere

Buddha looking down on us with love

Isn't this relaxing..

Finally, an awesome wallpainting

Kamakura Town

Once we had to bring back the bikes we decided to go into Kamakura itself and see the local shops and find something to eat.
We need these kind of gates
But amidst all these shops, we found a small gem. An owl petting place. We couldn't resist and went in to pet some owls.
WHOOO are you looking at..?
After petting those lovely animals, we found ourselves some dinner in a tapas bar, before returning to the hotel to plan tomorrow and a good night's sleep..
3type fries.. Was yummy!
