Gomenasai! This post was only late because we were without Internet! Hopefully you can all understand this, so let's continue! What would a journey to Japan be without visiting some sake breweries. This led us to the town of Takayama, famous for its breweries.

These vats contained sake as a gift to the gods |
Takayama
In order to get there we took the Shinkansen, which led us past mount Fuji quickly to Takayama. We put our luggage into a locker and went to explore the town. After having some difficulties, we did manage to find some breweries in the center part of town, unfortunately none could give us a tour. This might be because it's still off season but we were disappointed none the less. Luckily I did see a movie about the entire process along the way so we drank our worries away with some cold sake!

One with plum taste, the other more cadual |
Once we discovered our first brewery, the others quickly followed. Offering us tastings and sake based products as much as we could handle (and afford), of which we certainly led some persuade us. The seasonal Sakura flavored sake is delightful, and this went great together with some sake infused cheesecake!

Saké to me baby! |
With sake discovered and tasted, we decided to try the local cuisine. The town of Takayama prides itself on its Hida beef. So we tried our luck in a restaurant, where I even had the opportunity to try out some undistilled sake to accompany my meal! Finally we went to our resting place for the night..

Oh yes, a Ryokan! |
The Seibei Ryokan
Aaah yes, sleeping on flat beds with sliding doors and furniture the size of a dwarf.. What could be more Japanese.. Oh yes, the onsen which my fiancée loved! We spent the rest of the evening relaxing and enjoying the freshly bought snacks :-)
