Kumamoto as a resting place

You can plan and prepare all you like, but if a volcano decides to be an aso, then you won't be allowed within 2km. Which is funny, because that was the name of the volcano.. Mount Aso has been placed on eruption level 2 so we weren't allowed to visit the crater..
Thought this fitted well

Kumamoto

As those familiar with Japanese geography could've guessed we're in Kumamoto.  A fine city in the West of Japan. With two sights to see here, and one with a temper, we had the luck of spending some extra time with the other, which was Kumamoto Castle.
Making friends wherever he goes!
The Castle is a 5 stories bastion of military splendor. It's been recreated to serve as a reminder of the splendor of Japanese culture and past. Together with the prefectorate building, these two still basked in the old Japanese building styles, and were fun to walk through.
Dumble-samurai on guard
In one of the side buildings there was a permanent exposition on the civil war that was waged in this region of Japan around the year 1900. That in their turn led to a more humane Japan, and the foundation of the Japanese Red Cross.
If those girls don't get you to join..
All in all we enjoyed the sightseeing we did . Having some extra time to rest our weary feet isn't too bad either, because tomorrow we're off again to our next destination!
Stamps galore!
