O-torii mio

Visiting Japan gives you the opportunity to see some unique landmarks in the world. One of those is on the island of Mijayima.
Still standing after more than 700 years..

Mijayima

This little coastal town is mostly known for this landmark. While beautiful, we still took the time to not only see that, but explore the rest of the island. From its temples and museums to its aquarium,  Mijayima remains a small town with not much influx of westerners (which is a good thing). Their local specialty is a maple leaved treat in which we indulged before going to the aquarium (again)
Swishing down with some sweet ramune
The aquarium here was more like those we know. Lots of pretty sea animals for display. What was most remarkable to me was the fact that a lot of those aquaria were accessible.  you could easily stick your hand down some to touch fishes or even some trilobite looking crabs.. Anyways they had this cool sea lion show to finish our visit!
Bubbles, bubbles!

Rounding up our stay.

With the end of our time in Hiroshima in sight, we spent the rest of the day gift shopping. The Tokyu Hands is a great mall where you can find a lot of stuff so it would seem. We even bought a new suitcase to put more junk in!
A scenic sight I wanted to share with you all..
So now we're getting ready to leave for Kumamoto tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, the nearby volcano is on alert, so we won't be able to reach the top of the mountain,  but with 15000steps a day on average, I won't mind not having to climb another one ;-)
Who would like some more stamps?
